Base Jefferson

Base Jefferson is a military installation built by the Neo-American government near Mono Lake in California. It is staffed mainly by infantry, aircraft pilots and a large scientific division. It is, at the moment, mostly secretive, acting as a research and refueling outpost.

History

Base Jefferson was built near the California-Nevada border, around the shore of California's Mono Lake. Before the Neo-Americans showed up, the region was populated by a small primitive village, who had managed to eke out an existence near the large desert mountains. Then, the first Neo-Americans showed up. Seeing the region's value as a strategic location, the first engineers showed up to begin the base's construction around 2245.   The nearby village and the initial engineers had conflict as construction began. Eventually, a division of soldiers invaded the village, and attacked the survivors who inhabited it mercilessly. Afterwards, the remaining villagers were relocated, with some of them being enslaved, either as test subjects or laborers. Eventually, the base was completed, and began to be inhabited by hundreds of Neo-American soldiers.   The base is extremely secretive as of the 2250's, far from most trade routes and populated regions. Base Jefferson is where the majority of military operations are staged, with at leas 300 soldiers being stationed at the base at all times. As well, a large scientific division exists at Base Jefferson, mostly dealing in genetic engineering research and weapons testing.
