Northern Violet
The Northern Violet is the brightest star found in the northern sky. It is part of the Maker constellation, and makes up the Maker's raised hand.
Appearance
The Northern Violet gives off a steady violet glow, that may appear more blue when the sky is lighter. It gets its name from its distinctly purplish colour. It is among the first stars to appear in the evening, and one of the last to fade. In the F'zyr and Notandari the star can even sometimes be visible on summer nights as a pale blue light in the north.Cultural Impact
Its high visibility and stagnant path makes it a very important navigational point for traders and travellers. The Merchants' Guild even use the Trade Symbol for the Northern Violet in their emblem. An old Rhyddan children's story tells of a little girl who loved violets. One winter she got very sick and prayed to the Spirits to be allowed to live long enough to see the violets bloom. The Spirits knew that she would not live to see them, so they placed a violet in the sky for her to look upon every night until her last. Fedherans tells a tale of a Descendant woman by the name of Rhinnia Falithi, a famed beauty of Fidhern. King Elian fell in love with her but he was already an old man. His wives had all died, leaving him only with daughters. Convinced that Rhinnia would be the one to birth him a son, he used his powers of Source to woo her into marriage. One of the wonders he performed was to make the brightest, and most important star in the sky shine in Rhinnia's favourite colour: violet.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
