Light Crystals

Luminous crystals used in place of fire to light rooms. They were discovered in 96FU as attempts were made to tunnel through the Zagarian mountains to the Purger territory of Hel.

Appearance

In daylight they appear as regular beryl stones, either clear, cloudy white, or pale blue in colour. A single crystal is rarely larger than a man's fist. When placed in a dark room they emenate a steady, even light. One crystal cannot provide enough light for an entire room and are therefore often set in "wreathes" and to hang from the ceiling, or in clusters to stand on a desk.

Accessibility and Price

Light crystals are not available on every street corner and very few merchants deal in them over all. Those who wish to purchase light crystals would need to go through the Merchants' Guild. A registered merchant makes direct contact with the mines and places an order according to their customer's needs.
The base price of light crystals is one fifth of their weight in gold. Add to that the cost of transportation and merchant tax it is easy to spend half of your order's weight in gold.
