Evaia is an ancient celestial that orbits the sun, Arun, with her dead brother, Aevion. The sentient life on Evaia acted differently than their alternates on Aevion. Some peacefully lived and developed their own cultures, understanding the importance of sustainability. Others warred with each other.
After many centuries of fighting, when the fighting grew to include the destruction of the environments that sustained Evaia. Evaia was awakened from her sorrow. She expressed her anger through volcanic activity, she shed tears that flooded the deserts and her screams blew through the grasslands killing many of the creatures that angered her. Those that survived she cursed. The tribes that took to the marshes and fought without thought but out of primal instinct, she cursed with the primal instincts of the most ferocious reptiles altering their forms to match. The clans that burned the grasses and pillaged her forests she deformed with the faces of Orcs. And the tribes that dwelled in the deserts she cursed with the horrible visages of what is now known as the Yuan-Ti, numb from her anger she inadvertently stole the emotions of the Yuan-Ti.
Those that had not harmed her, Evaia blessed. The cultish Jolkienites, that had taken to the forests long ago, she granted their wish to be like the elves they idolized. Those that took to the water she blessed with gills and webbed appendages to help handle the environment they had grown to love. Those born from the coupling of Dragons and Aasimar, she took pity upon, releasing them from their dragon masters. She brought them together and built them cities within the mountains.
Finally, Evaia spoke to the Aasimar who had remained in the Skylands and had built a society for this very day. She told them to guide those that dwelled on the ground, teaching them of her existence and her will. And then, much like giving candy to a child after punishing them, she gifted the world with magic and went into hibernation. From here the Aasimar descended from the clouds and spoke the will of Evaia, helping rebuild what they could and setting into motion the society of keepers they had planned for so long.
Now, Evaia watches her inhabitants, chronicling the lives of those that rise to great-hood.
