Moping festival
Pronounced: /mopˈnig/
History
Originating from the word "Baby" in Nij͡ʝen, this festival is designed for the people of Fíhung íf to find a partner. This tradition began long ago, when it was traditional to weave wreaths to show a potential partner you had skills to help support a family if desired.
Execution
Suitors who wish to be the one to stay home with the children will set up booths in town square, show casting skills they have honed. Examples of this might be putting out a homemade dress or a cake baked from scratch. Suitors who wish to be the breadwinner for the family will head to the town square around noon, after all the booths had been set up. They then will go around the town square, sampling the booths and examining each one. If the breadwinner decides they like a booth, they will leave a note and a small list of things about them for the person running the booth to run over.
Components and tools
The city provides the booths that the suitors will use to show off their talents, but suitors have to bring all items for show. No store bought items are allowed, and everything must be made from scratch, including the fabric for clothing.
Observance
The festival takes place in the first week of July, the month of Sík, bearer of romance in Uwaj͡ʝa Kemn. Different suitors will set up a stand every day, leading to a variety of choices.
