The Kaingans Ethnicity in Ethnis | World Anvil

The Kaingans

The Kaingans are the people who survive in the Waimana Valley. Without any communication to the outside world, the Kaingans have been at the mercy of the elements and the malicious forces of the Hydra. Despite the hardships and passage of the time, the culture and its people still remain proud and strong. Even amongst the naysayers, the logic holds that in order to survive, they must never give up on bringing order to their home and putting the Hydra down once and for all.

Kainga has its own sets of beliefs and traditions that have evolved from the Melancholic surviors of the Cutting of Ark. Kaingan culture draws from the Polynesian and Maori IreHeart and the Sazashi who settled from the ValuSelu Pact.

To be a Kaingan is to be of Waimana, to hold its mists and jungles in our hearts. We represent it, we protect it. We hold it dear and in return it allows us to call it home.

Notable Tenets

Mana

Many Kaingans believe in the balance of 'Mana' that they are to maintain. The Mana permates themselves and everything around them. Mana is the Meta that is wielded, it is the influence that each Kaingan has on the world around them.

Having good Mana means bringing positive change and helping others. Mana is not to be judged by the self, but it is to be judged by those who you care for.

Apprenticeship

The Kaingas are alone in the world, and so survive off a slowly dwindling population. In order to prevent the loss of generational knowledge, the Kaingans value an apprentice system that pairs masters with students. One master passes down his knowledge to one apprentice.

Apprentices get to choose their master based on their interests, but with the shrinking population there is encourgement to take unclaimed apprenticeships.

I really like the apprentice/master dynamic, and I like how they're having to change how they approach it because of a dwindling population. I mean, I don't *like* it, but you know what I mean.
