The Crow

In Exordium, the lower realm of the Ethereum, crows hold a special significance as messengers of the Father. Said to be made of the same Ashes from which the Father created man, crows are considered the Father’s children as much as humans are. In this way, humans and crows are said to be cousins. This legend also explains why crows are the most intelligent of birds. Like humans, they were gifted the ability to think, form memories, and dream. Their language, though unintelligible to humans, is also considered highly sophisticated. In many churches and sanctuaries, there are spots for crows to roost, so that they can raise their young in peace.
Another regional legend states that crows gained their black plumage from flying through the Father’s flames at the beginning of the world and being exposed constantly to the sun. They flew for so long to deliver messages across the world, they were permanently burnt.
All these ideas extend to other living members of the corvid family, including ravens and magpies.
