Specters

Specters, or ghosts, are uncommon in Exordium, but not unheard of. For most, ghosts represent souls who have not been properly laid to rest. This could be due to incomplete rites, a rushed burial, or other cultural norms surrounding death that are not followed. Priests from the Order of the Mother and the Son are most often the ones called to address these issues. The thought is that a Priest of the Mother can talk with the roaming spirit and hopefully move them on, especially if they are trapped in their spectral state due to trauma. While they do this, the Priest of the Son helps rectify whatever upset the soul, including reburying the body and doing the appropriate rites.
In extreme cases, where the soul has gone beyond its original state or has become violent, a Priest of the Father will come in and use cleansing fire to remove it from the home, building, or person it has attached itself to. This permanently destroys the spirit, allowing it to become something else, but it cannot be reincarnated.
