Azrael, the sword of Death

Azrael, the sword of Death, is the family heirloom of the Drakyna family. It is currently in the possession of Kestrel Drakyna.

History

The sword was given by one of the Seraphim to High-lord Alexios Endorion. It was one of seven swords given by the Seraphim to the most noble of the men who arrived on the shores of Etherea. When Alexios was killed in battle against demons without an heir, the blade was given to his best friend High-lord Riordan Nightshade who eventually gifted it to Valerie, the bastard daughter of his son Alexander. Valerie would use it to slay Deinos, a dragon in vengeance for Riordan who was killed by the dragon. The sword has been passed down through the generations, wielded by the Drakyna family.

Properties of the blade

The sword’s most impressive property is its ability to cause injuries that would not heal. The wounds caused cannot be healed by any means, not even by magic no matter how powerful the caster. This makes Azrael a very powerful offensive weapon as even small injuries to an opponent would continue to bleed. Not even the user of the blade is immune to this. Because of this only master swordsmen are allowed to wield Azrael. The members of the Drakyna family are trained from the age of 7 in the art of swordsmanship and practice with exact replicas of the sword to get them used to Azrael's weight and reach.
The blade being made of Celestial steel would never rust nor ever be in need of sharpening.
