Atlantis
The Planet Atlantis wasnt originally named that, going by the name Kepler 62 E. Initially another radioactive-core water-world and completely exempt of interest, after a spaceship was forced to land on the planet it came to the attention of the galaxy at large that it's volcanic activity had in fact allowed tiny polyps to form enormous reefs of coral, some even stretching to the surface. The unlikely survival of the crew on local fish and slimy plantlife immediately made them rock-stars. Four major settlements were planned by various groups, although by the time of the industrial collapse every reef within a kilometre of the surface had been settled, with several others possessing underwater habitats for scientific or leisure purposes. Soon afterwards it was named Atlantis, an agreeably much more enticing name for potential tourists.
The companies owning the settlements were all bought out by the Dione Corporation during a particularly profitable decade, but they failed to effectively increase fishery output and over the years price increases would see fewer and fewer tourists. Come the Orion War the planet was strategically important, being at the mouth of the Dark Volumes, and its landing fields were quickly seized by Sumnian forces. It's solar cells would see frequent use by both sides in the fighting, although its surface would remain relatively unscathed.
After the Orion War it became part of the Sumnian Republic, and would remain so until its last days.
The World of Atlantis is a vibrant one of sea foam, fishing, and sun. A remarkable place to holiday, where you can enjoy sun, sea, and fine dining.

Geography
The planet is completely covered with saltwater, with only small reefs less than ten kilometres wide breaching the surface.
Beneath the waves is an entirely different story with towers of coral reef, trenches of unfathomable depth, floating masses of seaweed and kelp.

Fauna & Flora
Plantlife grows where it can, floating near the surface with inflated airbags, clinging to the coral with sharp hooks, or sequestering itself close to a thermal vent on the ocean floor. None are appetising.
Tiny creatures smaller than your fingernail number in the thousands, eaten by larger fish, in turn eaten by larger fish still. The ecosystems across the planet are varied, each competing with one another for each rung in the food chain. At its very peak is the Leviathan.
Seen combing the ocean floor with their mandibles and claws, where they consume dead plants and animal carcasses, the Leviathans are almost the size of a spaceship at some two hundred metres long. These creatures are solitary and seemingly never meet. At least twelve examples have been observed concurrently, but exact numbers of the species is unknown. They show signs of intelligence, avoiding observation craft and removing tags placed on them. They are aggressive to any lifeform they encounter but do not actively hunt. They are the largest animal ever observed.
