The Pyre

They worship The Burned One, and are the predominant body of faith in and around Eshor. Their beliefs are mainly tied to loyalty and one's connection to others.

Structure

The Charred One - line of direct communication with the god himself, they are always recluses from society, only concerning themselves with the needs of their god and the wider church.

The Singed - just below, a council of Singed picks the new Charred One. They are in charge of the great cathedrals. Each cathedral will have much Kindling, to "fuel the fires, of the soul and the building".

The Many - high-level acolytes, they are rarely raised to Singed. They run individual churches and give sermons. If they are chosen, they may assist in one of the great cathedrals. If one of the Many "loses the light", they are forbidden to ever attempt to bask in its glory again.

The Kindling - lowest level, they are training to become one of the Many. This training may last anywhere from a few years to many decades, and many will not make it through. If one defects at this stage, they will be banned from any religious practices for a time equal to that of their training, sometimes this means the rest of their lives.

Public Agenda

Their main goal is to simply "light the way" by converting people. They also act out their god's tenants wherever possible, performing the usual church duties: aiding the poor and sick, offering generalised magical assistance, and protecting people from danger that may arise due to divine forces, such as undead.
