Ligten
"Ligten was not an enormous city, by Augustian Imperial standards, but it was massive by Dregian ones. It spanned several districts and was surrounded by miles of farmland, but one could easily see the boundaries of cultivation from a good vantage point on the wall. The whole city was surrounded by the thickest wall in the empire, made of stone the color of cinder. If Candle passed through the large gate at the end of the bridge over the deep moat surrounding the city, he would find Dregian architecture at its finest: tall, spire-roof towers, shingles on large structures and buildings. But underneath all the grandeur that typically surrounds such a center of power, he would also find rampant squalor and poverty, like the waste and grime accumulating in an otherwise prosperous forge. Even the capitol’s citizens were suffering to the ceaseless war’s unending hunger for resources and able-bodied men."
