Personal history
Born to a minor noble family that has been charged with the guardianship of Tupelo thicket. He is the youngest son, fourth in line to be the head of the family and unlikely to ascend to the throne, he began training to defend his family's lands from his mid teens.
In an effort to unite their family with the Eladrin nobility of the southern city of Norwich, his parents had him betrothed to Rolviryn of Norwich in an arranged marriage. Although they have only met a few times, he is very taken with her and at their last meeting, he has promised not to stray before they are wed.
Soon after he completed his training, he took a squire. In the city of Aynor, he found a young Half Elf woman named Zinnoa, who was seeking to raise her status through becoming a knight. Given her age, their relationship is more akin to that of companions then that of mentor and mentee but he is happy to have her companionship as he steps out into the world.
After spending the last ten years in training as a paladin and guardian shrine of Yhara, he has left the forest on his own for the first time. With his squire beside him he seeks out other companions to join him.
Education
Educated by his tutors hired by his family and trained as a paladin by guardians of Tupelo. He is well versed in the forest and scripture of Yhara but little else beyond the forests borders.

Motivation
Finally allowed to leave the forest, Sylvar has a strong need to prove himself. Both to his family and to himself, free of any kind of coddling from his family.
When push comes to shove, he will always side with his family. They are his strongest bond in the world and nothing is more important to him then them.
