Berem Beseiged

It was with great distress that we arrived at Berem to find it under assault by a goblin horde. I was under the impression that the goblin clans were under the heel (read: hoof) of the Centaurs. Something must have happened to them. We have enough on our plate at the moment and we definitely do not need another detour, despite my better judgement suggesting that the Centaurs are in need of aid.   While I was not surprised to see Ethar unleash a fireball in the middle of the assault, turning the tide against the goblin horde, I was shocked to see the ease at which she conjured it. It makes me wonder what biological components within her tiny body allow her to breathe with such force. Perhaps she will let me examine her laryngeal glands when we have a free moment?   All of this battle wears heavily on me. Drawing blood leaves a taste most unsettling in my mouth. There are countless miles between me and my consummate partner: a cup of Earl Grey.   At last we enter the city through the field of the dead. Surely without our intervention then the city would have fallen. Although, there isn't much of a city left to save. Army hospitals and wounded litter the street.   I never thought I'd enjoy seeing Diana at the Haunted Trunk Inn more than I did today. The sense of normalcy is palpable. There is nothing that an Earl Grey can't wash away; the effect is enhanced when studying arcane theory of trans-dimensional and trans-temporal travel. Must make a note to spend more time doing that (a small joke for you, dear reader). My sense of urgency for contacting the magistrate increases with every line I read as re-arrange my spell preparations. Surely the magistrate will know what is going on in this once fair city.   Beautiful solitude. Truly a balanced life is the life worth living.   I suspect that Caldera's infernal nature is far stronger than he realizes. There have been several instances whereby magic and otherworldly effects impact him differently. I am sure that his father may shed some light upon his origins. He has, perhaps, more potent infernal blood in him. Is his father who we all think it is? What of the Mother? Many questions. Accounts for the anger and rage he harbours. Will watch carefully going forward. Note to consult a devil next I encounter one. Perhaps begin researching how to summon one? The far world wasn't all that difficult to breach, given the correct alignment of sigil-grafts. How difficult could the Hell worlds be? Perhaps Caldera would lend me their blood to perform such research. Must tread lightly.

A Good Night

After such a long journey, it is nice to relax in the town of Aynor. I'm happy that nothing will happen here while we are resting, That cave was far too intense.
