Golem Armor

An escalation of the concept of enchanted armors, combined with the idea of the Varasian automated armor and combat golems. The golem armor are all of these concepts lumped into one and scaled up to suit the need its users. A giant suit of armor construct to allow human sized creatures to don them and gain the benefits of the armor's larger, stronger build.

The type and uses of Golem Armor are as varied as the peoples of Eshtravan. The original golem armors were war machines that were few and far in between, used by Varasian nobles as siege weapons in their border disupts; they now see wider use from simple industial models meant to move cargo and work in hazardous environments to the spectacularly flaired out gladiatorial models used to entertain the masses.   Golem armors are still an uncommon sight but see far wider use in this modern age. With the mass availablity of magic and the ever expanding scope of industry making it ever easier to gather the resources require to construct such equipment.

Base Golem Armor Statistic

All golem armors are treated as a special type of armor amd shares a lot of the same base statistics of regular armor sets, but has a few qualities unique to this type of magic item.

Golem armors are designed for use by small and medium sized creatures amd require modification to suit larger or smaller wearers. A single set of Golem Armor can weigh up to 1 ton and stand up to 10 to 12 feet tall and therefore does not have formal Bulk value.

Size Golem Armor is built to be larger than its intended wearer. The wearer is considered the the size of the golem armor, allowing them to use and wield equipment and weapons sized for the larger creatures.

Armor Bonus golem armors usually offer a minimum of +8 while some variants boast better defences

Strength golem armor do not have a minimum strength score needed to wear them. Rather they have their own strength score that the wearer of the armor uses instead of their own strength score.

Dexterity instead of a dexterity cap; golem armor is treated differently from that of other armors. The Golem Armor has its own dexterity score which the wielder uses while the armor is donned

Speed Golem Armors have their own speed that the wearer uses over their normal speed

HP golem armor provides the wearer with a buffer between themselves and physical harm. Each set has its own health pool that is reduced instead of its wearer. However if the golem armor's health is reduced to 0 it gains the broken condition and is rendered inoperable. The wearer will fall prone along with the armor, but can spend 2 actions to open a hatch and exit the armor.

Vanguard-Class

The Vanguard type armor is thought to be earliest and to this day the most popular of Golem Armor designs. Its chassis resembles that of a plainly humanoid suit of armor with a sleek curves and somewhat distorted proportions with slightly elongated arms and narrow midsection. Despite these physical oddities the armor is quite comfortable for wearers and its simplicity makes it a popular base model for further enchantments and upgrades

Osprey-Class

The Osprey armors are a favored pick for regions with less than desirable terrain, making them the prevalent design in Rumeria and Urokai. Its name comes from the avian appearance of its body sports, featuring digitigrade legs, wide shoulders and forearms set parallel to the ground, its head sits inset of an armored sleeve atop is beak shaped chest plate. Osprey armor sports a much more nimble and agile design at the cost of ergonomics

Ogre-Class

An Ogre chassis is designed for battle and heavy use. Sacrificing the elegance and sleekness of more common golem armor for enhanced strength and durability. The Ogre chassis has bottom heavy digitigrade legs a rough and tumble boxy armored look, with many lifting bars and hook loops adorning its clumsy looking frame. Despite its lack of visual appeal, it is a highly functional combat ready unit.

Golem Armor Traits

Strider Golem Armor with this trait can ignore rough terrain

Golem Arms

Certain specialized tools and weapons outside of simple enchanted large sized weapons that have been developed for specifically for use on Golem Armors. These specialized tools are designed to be driven by the same animating forces that let the Golem Armor function and can technically be installed and used by constructs (but not primal forged). The following are descriptions and statistics of such tools:

Arcane Cannon

The concept of a firearm is relative new but found is place incorporated onto the original concept of these armors as siege weapons. This is a cannon mounted on the back of a golem armor on a gimbal. This allows the operator to aim and operate the cannon with one hand via a handle bolted to the under side of the barrel. Though the cannon is still a single shot weapon the wearer of the golem armor can take 3 actions to focus the armor's magic and fire the cannon instead of using gunpowder charges. This weapon functions in all other ways like a Magelock Cannon, full statistics can be found on the following page: Weapons; Firearms
