Military action
In 1316, the idea of Project Freelancer was brought before the Authenian Senate by Director Archimedes Church, and was approved. With the idea of creating the perfect soldier, with a mixture of both advanced technology, martial prowess and arcane power.
Project Freelancer was established with the intention of creating soldiers with the power of a dozen or more men, so that Authenian interests could be served without sending multitudes of men to their deaths. Archimedes Church presented the idea to Authenian Senate six months after thirty soldiers were sent to their deaths in order to stop an ancient green dragon from destroying Calydon, as his wife, a sergeant in the Authenian military, was among the dead. Project Freelancer was approved, and Director Archimedes Church was given almost unlimited resources in order to achieve his goal. The Father of Innovation, which was originally the flagship of the Authenian Navy, was given to him and modified to serve as a mobile base of operations. The best soldiers in the Authenian military were handpicked to potentially become Freelancer Agents, and Archimedes Church worked tirelessly with engineers from the ASC in order to produce the armour and equipment that the Freelancers would eventually become known for. One year after Project Freelancer was established, Archimedes Church successfully created the first AI Fragment, though the method used to create them was left unknown to all but the Director and his second in command, Councilor Aiden Peace.
