Arlbad

The doors were well shut, but she couldn't close the windows. At night, it was possible to hear them roaming through the village, looking for a prey. Sometimes they scratched the doors, and, sadly, once in a while they were able to open them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Arlbads are quadrupedal beings with a body similar to the wolves'. Their front paws have four fingers, one of them in the opposite direction of the others like bird feet. The face has no ears, except for a tiny hole on their head, a wide jaw, and a very short nose.

Genetics and Reproduction

The species can reproduce rapidly: a healthy female can have up to five pups every 6 months.

Ecology and Habitats

Arlbads live in the desert, more specifically in West Melung. They are adapted to the dry environment, as well as its great temperature variations.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Arlbads eat pretty much everything and survive mostly by eating carcasses, but their favorite food is fresh meat. When they find a "source" of meat, like a human settlement, they dig holes on the surroundings and periodically hunt in that place.

Smart enough to hunt in packs and share the food they get. Their memory is also very good, and they can recognize up to 150 different individuals.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Arlbads can hear and smell very well: they can hear the scream of a prey up to 10 kilometers away from them, and smell blood from up to 5 kilometers away.

Not under risk of extinction. The villagers of West Melung wouldn't bother if it happened, though.
