Heedlands

The Heed was used by the native tribes around RockAnchor Bay to generically describe all their land, and it means something along the lines of land or earth. The Vogelite settlers took it to mean the name of their people or nation and hence it was mistakely used to name of the new province of the Heedlands. This is also the origin of the name of the Kingdom. Adaheed mean land of Adadad, which only came into common parlance after his death. The region that now makes up the Heedlands was some of the earliest settled by the Vogelites. It is considered the second province and was one of the Chartered Four. The Prongs and several major tributaries run through the Heedlands and are its dominant geographic feature. The Prongs is the most important river in the Kingdom. It stretches from Rockanchor Bay through the Heedlands up into Kriegerburg. It has many large tributaries. The land around the prongs is fertile and has many prosperous cities and towns. Even before the first crossing many villages dotted the Prongs. Most were incorporated into the new Kingdoms by force, assimilation, and marriage.This river was made navigable by the Vogelites which alowed for the Vogelites to spread quickly during the First Crossing. The people have been largely absorbed into the great culture of Adaheed and are very loyal to the throne.   New Belthezar- Two Hazar Hounds on black. City of Black Glass. The Black Capitol. A large city at the confluence of the Prongs and the Antler. It was one of the early cities founded by the brothers. It is large and prosperous. Belthezar was the largest subjugate city of Ziz in Vogel. A son of the House of Hazar, the ruling house of the city, came over on the First Crossing and founded the city. He married into the family of a local chieftain whose village stood there. He brought much wealth and used it to build up the new city. When the Chartered Four were established Belthazar was chosen to be the Archseat of one of the new provinces. The province famous for its glass industry and the Hazzer hound which was developed from a local breed of dog. Much of the cities larger building were created from dark rock giving the city a dark look.   Jothfalls- White Hazar dog on Black. Started life as an outpost established on the prongs by Jothrohad, for which the city takes its name. It was located close to New Belthezar which has since grown large to absorb to the smaller Jothfalls, which is now no more than a borough of the larger city.   Stonebridge- Grey bridge on half black and white. City centers around a massive bridge crossing the Prongs that predates the Vogelites.   Threeclaws- Three orange eagle talons on half black and white. Sits on the Claw, a major tributary of the Prongs   Mishailel- Two shortnosed bears on black.   Nanaia- Two speckled jackals on black   Azarai- Two white wolves on black. Sits on a small lake that is the source of the Barb.   Jackelope- Two jackalope on black. small rural seat that sits in the back hills of the west of the province. it is the only seat not on the Prongs or one of its tributaries.
