Thythryn High Council

The Thythryn High Council, officially Thythryn High Ashtur, was the nationwide decision making corpus of the council republic of Thythr.   In the Thythryn council system, Ashturs, democratic councils organised from a local to the highest level, formally and practically controlled the country. The Thythryn High Council was the Ashtur that covers the entire nation. However, despite being the quasi-government of Thythr, it was subject to a complicated democratic decision making process, bound by the decisions of its lower Ashturs.   In that sense, the High Council merely executed the will of the majority of the regional Ashturs, which in turn executed the will of the local Ashturs, which consist of all peasants and labourers. The High Council thus cannot impose its will upon the people without their consent; as in addition, members of the High Council are subject to recall at any point.

Membership

The Thythryn High Council consists of one representative per regional Ashtur, and as of the year 103, one representative from the Mantis; however not the High Council of Mantis, as their members are unknown. Membership is awarded through a simple majority vote, and can be recalled at any time if more than half of the regional Ashturs decide to do so.

Noteworthy members

Throughout history, various people were members of the High Council at some point, among them several prominent figures, but previously unknown peasants and labourers just as well. As the Thythryn society does not feature any privileged political classes, as all Ashturs are sets of representatives among the people, there are no powerful leaders or colourful personalities at the top; in stark contrast to the neighbouring state of Skyrmin, whose rank of Governor of Skyrmin has notoriously been occupied by less than popular leaders.   However, some members of the High Council historically have been important figures in equally as important events; some of which are listed here:
