South Equestria Explorers League

With the return of Princess Luna and her re-assimilation into the modern world, Canterlot once again had two princesses to handle the crown. Hundreds of projects put on the back burner could now be authorized by Luna, essentially halving Celestia's workload. One of these long-awaited projects was the South Equestria Explorers League (abbreviated Sequel). While the southernmost land of Equestria had been loosely charted for decades, it remained untouched by civilization due to its distance from other settlements and difficulty to reach. That's where the Sequel arrives. Founded in the year 1003 with a successful voyage in 1004, Sequel is comprised of seasoned explorers, colonizers and researchers tasked with setting Equestria's hoof down on the basalt shores of South Equestria for good. The league is subsidized by the Equestrian government and openly recruits willing and able persons, similar to how a military branch functions, though it isn't defined as or intended to be one. In 1006, under supervision of Canterlot, Sequel formed an affiliate research group called the Skywatch. In the future, upon reaching a level of self-sustainability (specifics not yet determined), subsidy will be lessened and eventually cut. However, research grants may still be given through the Skywatch.
