Convention

The event referred to as 'Convention' was a supposed parlay with the gods of Eos and the Last Hero. What the conversation entailed no one knows, but the intent was to help mortals stand a chance in the world against greater beasts. The outcome of convention was the essence of the gods being introduced into the world, collectively referred to as magic.

Summary

The last Hero, his hero companions, and the remaining myrmidons set out on a decades long journey to convene with the gods face to face to garner their assistance in giving mortals a chance to fight the beasts of the world. Beasts which include Dragons, Krakens, Giants, Demons, Etc. Stories of this event have been passed down orally since, so what is true or not is unclear. It also isn't clear what exactly happened that changed the Last Hero's focus from mercenary work and monster hunting, to pursuing such a seemingly altruistic goal. There are many stories all over the known world of his exploits, whether his travels to those far places were his wanderlust or his quest for Convention is also unknown.

Historical Basis

There are physical accounts of the Last Hero's exploits, so to some extent this story is based on facts, though to what degree none can tell. Though there is ample evidence to some of the stories told about his exploits, there is little known about what his journey to convention entailed. After the event he disappears, no traces to be found, some believe he sacrificed himself to seal this deal, or perhaps his mother Athana wished him to stay among the gods, or perhaps he purposely went to live a quite life with his lover Temoria. Those who accompanied him on this journey also seem to of disappeared for the most part, except for a few of the other heroes, the Myrmidons either died during this journey or were dispersed afterwards, stories tend to focus on heroes and fail to mention those following them even when they suffer the same hardships.   Regardless of the events leading to this, the immediate aftermath began what we now refer to as 'The Collapse'. Almost all civilizations crumbled; stopping trade, starting famine and disease, the weakened states around the Middle Sea became prey for invaders, Including the first ever invasion of Naga and their 'Sea People' allies. Technology was lost, people forgot how to read and write, the gods made the world sunder with earthquakes. All of this forced many to seek refuge which caused a large migration of people to places which couldn't sustain them. This period lasted for nearly four hundred years before the Rise of the Hellenes and the reemergence of the Assyrian Empire.

Spread

Like the Last Hero, this event is known across the known world in some capacity.
