Forest Elves

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Forest elves are lean and tall. Thinner and more nimble than their Mountain and Sea cousins they are adept at living among the trees and forests.

Civilization and Culture

Common Dress Code

Forest elves wear a ceremonial mask nearly at all times that shows their rank within their society. the lowest caste do not wear masks as they are considered not even worthy of the honor. Each mask has a symbol that designates the elf's rank. Any other designs on the mask are up to the elf. Most masks are very elaborate but the warrior at rank one, the First Sword's mask is a blank mask with no designs whatsoever.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Forest elves live in a very rigid caste society with three basic levels. The lowest of these levels are the gatherers and hunters who provide food for the village and help with the basic needs of the people. The second tier are the warriors. Within this caste it is possible to move up but the only way to do so is to best someone of a higher level than you in a formal duel. The third and highest caste are the "nobility".  These elves have proven themselves in combat and are ranked in a kind of number system.  There are only even 100 of these elves at one time.  The first sword is a title given to the strongest forest elf and they are considered a champion of their people.

History

The forest elves are the most tribal of the three races of elves. They have hidden themselves away in the jungles and forests of the world. They live a difficult life of constant competition. They rarely take part in the concerns of the wider world and prefer to stay among themselves.
