Cliffsedge Chapel

Purpose / Function

The Chapel serves the surrounding region of Cliffsedge with all of their religious needs. A large chapel, it has shrines to all of the main gods of the realm as well as a few of the local minor gods. It has one unnamed shrine for any travelers who might not worship any of the main gods. A Corvir priest named Poe serves as the chapel's caretaker.

Architecture

The Chapel is built in the unique style of the Gray Dwarves. As a sign of cooperation and friendship they designed and built this church for the village of Cliffsedge. While most buildings in Vestonia sport elongated towers with pointed spires, this church has more rounded features with a large hemispherical central dome. Behind the dome stands a massive tower which looks rather plain from the outside. Inside however is where the true genius of the building shines. Rather than build two tall towers on the outside of the building the dwarves decided to replicate the architecture from their underground caverns. Two spires magically hang upside down from inside the massive central tower giving off the appearance of stalactites.

History

After the Gray Dwarves of Undermountain found their way to the surface they met the people of Cliffsedge. This meeting was fruitful as both groups came away with a strong liking for the other. A trade agreement began and the people of Cliffsedge began to ship lumber to Undermountain. The dwarves designed and built a few of the main buildings within the village and as a final gift built the Chapel. They had plans to build a road connecting the two cities but the provincial capital of Goldenknock disrupted these plans by settling a new village closer to the dwarven city.
