Elves

Most commonly known as "those pointy eared folk" by the Humans, Elves of Eonus are a dying species. Due to their long life spans, they breed very few children

Basic Information

Anatomy

Typically, Elves have pointy ears and squinty eyes. Their sizes and skin tones vary among the ethnic groups within the species. Elves are in a sense, humanoid with minor alterations to cosmetic features although their pointy ears have been marked as a trait to increase one's ability to hear quieter and further away noises

Genetics and Reproduction

Elves are known to reproduce at random points in the year like humans. There is no "perfect" time for mating for them and their choice of mate is through a similar style of courtship to humans which leads the belief that Elves and humans are more alike than most let on.

Growth Rate & Stages

Elves experience the longest life span of all the species on Eonus. Elves reach maturity at the same rate as humans but often don't experience adult lifestyles until they reach the age of thirty

Ecology and Habitats

Elves are extremely adaptable to the point that each location creates a new type of elf. Most commonly found in elven settlements are houses made of some material that is either very shiny or very abundant.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Elves as a whole are huge on agriculture as they were the first species to establish the very concept of farming. Over the Eons, Elves have never once changed their methods of protection, more often than not, food is kept in one centralized location which is usually heavily guarded and resides in the same area as group leaders

Biological Cycle

Elves experience heightened arcane attunement in the summer months and depressed attunement during the winter. Elves are active all year around but are less seen during the winter

History

Elves as a whole originated off land from a long lost Island somewhere in the south. The island is believed to have been sunk through a series of tsunamis and other environmental disasters. When that Island was still afloat, Elves didn't have variants, there was just one type of elf. Archaeological digs in the Elven province suggest that the earliest Elven settlers were similar to modern day Aldails in terms of bone structure and height and build. By the end of the first Eon, the three elven variants were well established

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

It is very rare to see elves mate with different Elven variants, even rarer to see them mate with non-elves. Friend groups however have been known to hold all other species
