Arcom
The Arcom, a portmanteau of 'Arcane Communicator' is a new and vibrant technology being offered almost exclusively in The United Providences of Kirschdorf-Snaken, where an arcane field has been set up by high mages at discrete points in every province of the country in order to provide an interconnected network of on-demand sending and messaging spells that are all handled by a small crystal that you keep in your pocket with you.

Utility
The Arcom+ is a versatile machine, allowing one to contact others across a great distance without the limits of the sending and message spells. However, it has a limited range as the magic that powers the Arcom+ is only available in UPKS. Once a person has traveled outside of a mile of the border, they have a very pretty gemstone that has the stored data and can record new data but cannot access any information outside of itself.
Manufacturing
The gems used for the Arcom+ are mined in @Valilalona in Dulkunbu by the Mountain Dwarves, and sent to Lausental in Krober for their cutting and gem setting. Then to the city of Pfalhiem in Trisen for their final imbuement with a type of arcana, and then distributed by Arcom in Krober, Dosinland, Dulkunbu, and the United Providences.
Depending on what school of magic the programmer exposes the unimbued arcanite Arcom to causes it's color to shift as an odd property of the mineral. All colors are sold with the exception of the brown Transmutation Arcoms, which had some temperamental issues with it's programming causing an innate tendency to turn it's user into raw arcana and store them within the device. After the release of the Original Arcom in 1999, the Transmutation crystal option was discontinued for public safety, and because it was outright banned in The United Providences of Kirschdorf-Snaken.

Access & Availability
in the twenty-one years since it's first release, the Arcom is near-ubiquitous, with several forms of it has come and gone. Now the Arcom+ is an all in one information platform that connects to the Magesilk, an arcane information web that crisscrosses the UPKS.
Complexity
The technology is non-existant really, it's mostly made of magic. It's mostly just a slab of imbued crystal that you can attune to.
Discovery
The idea of creating a device to handle the sending and messaging spells has long been theorized but never actualized in the arcane community, until the discovery by Arbeit Zefaan , a gnomish mage in 1999.
