Session 1: The Kobold Kaper

General Summary

31 Thunsheer 975 - 3 Unndilar 975

The party began their journey in the province of Rofil at Manor Lackman. After having solved the string of murders in the province, or at least slayed the guilty party. In return for their good work Vulcor Lackman offers them a night of rest at the Manor.

Upon waking Kosef Starag meets the party for breakfast. He tell them had this string of murders gone unsolved the Taemore Valley would have likely plunged into civil war. Vulcor Lackman then joins them for breakfast. He asks the group to deliver his official report of the incidents to the head of the Guard in Andoshire. Vulcor Lackman warns the party that there have been reports of kobolds to the north, however other than that the road should be safe. The party sets off due north, having to trek through the swamp for a short period to circumvent the flooding along the Northern Highway.

While travelling Zigil Silverbeard plays the bagpipes and Trunkel hunts for prey in the swamp along the road. The first day of travel is quite uneventful, except for the sight of some humanoid creatures stirring in the distance.

After the second day of travel the party makes camp for the night, Zigil Silverbeard takes first watch and sees nothing of interest, however during the second watch of John Hellbourn he seems rather inattentive. Upon waking the party learns that some of their possessions have gone missing, including Trunkel's herbalism supplies and Zigil Silverbeard's bagpipes passed down from his family. Zigil Silverbeard is determined to retrieve his family heirloom, and upon further inspection the party notices tracks leading away from their camp. They lead off to a small hill with a cave.

The party enters the cave and hears the sounds of claws skittering across the cave floor. They approach and find 5 kobolds. Combat ensues and the party defeats them. They search the cave and find a small pile of random treasures, which includes their possessions. Zigil Silverbeard casts detect magic and finds an illusion covering a passage. After entering the passage he is attacked a black dragon wyrmling, and expeditiously makes his way out of the tunnel. The rest of the party enters the passage and slays the dragon. In this cavern they find draconic writing referencing the black dragon from the The Draconic Cycle legends. They also find a rudimentary statue of a large black dragon engulfing a sphere with its wings. Upon further inspection Zigil Silverbeard concludes that this may be a globe of Eodalan. The party finishes their travel for the day and beds down for the night.
