Culture and cultural heritage

Free orcs hail from the miners sent north to find gems. After the search was abandoned they simply stayed in the north, refusing to go back to a life of subjugation. As it was not many miners refusing to return they were largely ignored and allowed to exist in the arctic wasteland. The free orcs became a very independent and proud people.

Shared customary codes and values

The free orcs value independence over all else. They live in a harsh environment but have managed to survive as their alternative is returning to a life of subjugation by another race.

Average technological level

The free orcs did in fact find some magical technology in the mountains but hid it from the humans. It is with this technology that they managed to hunt beasts as large as the gortar without the size or strength of the red orcs.

Common Dress code

Free orcs generally wear animal pelts in order to stay warm. Animal bones are also often use to embellish these furs.

Art & Architecture

Free orcs tend to have small huts constructed for each family unit. Small chimneys are standard as it would be impossible to survive without a hearth.

Coming of Age Rites

While there are no formal coming of age rites, the free orcs do demand all members of their society to contribute their fair share. If a young orc attempts to slack in their responsibilities it is very likely they will be cast from the clan.

Common Taboos

It is taboo for free orcs to commit acts of diplomacy with the city of Twinbrook. Their people have closed that chapter in their history

Historical figures

Ozgul Grimshank - the father of all orcs, Ozgul's loyalty to the false god Tief is what led to the subjugation of the orcish people. His memory is spat upon by the free orcs as a mindless follower Borobog Beastslayer - the current elected Clan Leader of the orcs, Borobog gained fame when he slayed the alpha-male of a gortar herd in single combat. He is known for his gem encrusted staff

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The free orcs have a blue skin tone as their bodies allocate blood away from their skin in order to keep their internal organs warm. They tend to wear elaborate furs and bones from their hunts.

Gender Ideals

Free orcs tend to leave fighting to the men and women are in charge of keeping the young warm and safe.

Courtship Ideals

It is said that free orcs kneel once in their lives and that is when proposing. It is a great blow to a free orcs pride to kneel for any reason and so this act of humility is one of great significance.

Major organizations

There is always a Clan Leader and this is decided by popular vote. It is often the most powerful orc that gains this position.
