Shared customary codes and values

Elves value stealth and grace above all else. Elves tend to be able to jump from branch to branch in the forest, only touching the ground to secure a kill. Elves are a communal people, sharing all gained during hunts and harvest.

Average technological level

Elves use arrows made of a super alloy by the dwarves but do not have a great understanding of technology. Elves are incredibly conservative with these arrows and always retrieve them after firing them. They know enough about the robotic wildlife to understand how to kill them but not much more.

Common Dress code

Elves tend to wear tight fitting, stormcat leather armor. These outfits tend to be full body in order to conceal their glow at night. Non hunters tend to wear loose fitting woven clothing.

Art & Architecture

There are several well established wooden houses in Hawthorn including the largest building, the Gathering Hall. Many other elves tend to live in well constructed tents on the soft forest floor. Art tends to take the form of trophies of the hunt.

Coming of Age Rites

Young elves must be able to sneak up on an kill an animal without being detected in order to be granted the title of hunter

Funerary and Memorial customs

All dead are returned to Hearth Lake from wince they came. They are burned and scattered across the water.

Common Taboos

It is forbidden to shed blood into Hearth Lake as it is a place of purity and peace.

Historical figures

Thorin Godswood - Betrayed by Leon, Thorin fled to the one location safe for his hunters. Not wanting to make the same mistake as Leon or Tief, Thorin made a council of 5 elders so as to more evenly distribute the power.
Mamalla Windswept - The head of the elder council during the human war of expansion. She was assassinated by a lizardman, Ilthis the Devourer, an assassin sent by the humans disguised as an envoy.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Elves tend to have long, wildly braided hair. Elves tend to have large, yellow eyes with slit-like pupils. Larger eyes tend to indicate a more competent hunter. Elves also tend to have a light, white glow around themselves, making themselves appear like spirits of the forest at night.

Gender Ideals

Elven men tend to be the ones to hunt in the forest of Gee while the women work with the crops and domesticated animals. These are very loose gender roles as men and women are viewed as equals in elven society.

Courtship Ideals

Elves believe in love removed from family status or wealth. Proposals can be done by men or women and marriages are for life.

Major organizations

The Elder Council decides all matters in Hawthorn. It is comprised of the 5 oldest elves in the village
