Monks of the Blight Shimmer

Under the enlightening teachings of the Ioun, the Knowing Mentor, teachers, priests, and warriors in search for truth and knowledge find a path into the Monks of the Blight Shimmer. The Blight Shimmer is a network of schools and libraries that function to grow elite warriors and tentive scholors to serve and uphold the truth that is ever threatened by politics, propaganda, and the dangers of secrets. Their core belief is that true strength is found in understanding the world around you.

The Monks of the Blight Shimmer operate from temples and libraries built in the mountains and the larger Cities of Cruyan. They operate politically as a check and balance to help offset corruption within the Capitol and organizations that threaten the truth. Its members come from all walks of life. They are expected to assist in maintaining, organizing, and protecting temples and libraries that archive historical and contemporary research information and artifacts.

Archivists act as administrators at libraries to delineate tasks, oversee the induction and training of new members, and negotiate the purchases and acquisition of artifacts and records- often from those unaware of their actual value.

Bulwark are elite warriors of the Blight Shimmer who stand as an impervious protector to the libraries and temples of the Blight Shimmer. Bulwark is a sworn protector of all the Order finds sacred and holy. The warriors are the best and strongest monks that come out of the Blight Shimmer and are often more threatening than the masters who trained them.

The monks of the organization are enlightened-knowledge seekers of their Order. The research places and are sent on expeditions to where sacred knowledge can be found.

Sohei Monks are covert agents of the Blight Shimmer. They are enlightened infiltrators sent in to extract the truth, root out corruption, and expose secrets to better the world. Sohei Monks answer only to their Cognoscente.

Cognoscente are chosen curators that watch over and dictate goals to subordinates and use their judgment in assigning marks to the Sohei and allies that the Blight Shimmer can trust. They outline direct enemies and threats and approve monk expeditions.

The Blight Shimmer was founded after the fall of the Rutan Empire. When the Capitol of Cruyan was first established, due to the deep root corruption within the politics of Rutan, the founders of Cruyan reached out to Ioun, asking for guidance. The organization was established and given political liberty alongside the Capitol itself to unbiasedly seek out when the truth is being shielded and when degeneracy is found in political figures, and an investigation is needed.

The library has continued to work with and under the Capitol throughout time. Many accounts of corruption within the Order and politics have been brought out and extinguished since its institution upholding the delicate balance and rising tension between the two 'organizations.' Nowhere is the tension more apparent than in the militant truth-seekers of the Blight Shimmer.

There are currently 5 monasteries across the lengths of Capitol as well as a sixth location under construction on the city of Juniper. There are representative and smaller libraries in nearly every city that does not have a monastery to move quickly and aid the denizens of the citizens of Cruyan.
