Mirinium
The wonder material that singlehandedly justified the existence of the city Waleah. Mirinium is a highly durable, lightweight, and dense metallic material that has the added benefit of being highly magical.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Mirinium shines with the brilliance and sheen of silver, a barely perceptible and distinctly purple accent in its reflection. It is dense and highly impact-resistant, indeed, Mirinium's original purpose was as armor plating. Further research discovered that Mirinium is incredibly conductive, for heat as well as magic.
The metal can carry magical frequencies as efficiently as copper carries warmth, making it incredibly valuable as a reactant in magical devices and items, or as a catalyst for spells.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Mirinium remains cool to the touch in its dormant state, but any amount of magical frequency within 2 meters causes it to warm and become active.
Geology & Geography
Mirinium is only found deep underground, a necessary minimum depth of 870 feet before even the smallest veins are uncovered. There are many mines dotting the northern coasts between Kingcardine and Waleah where the ore can be found, though Waleah has the most plentiful access to it by an enormous margin.
Origin & Source
Long thought to be a naturally occurring substance, recent refinery and excavation techniques for gathering and purifying the material suggest Mirinium is somehow linked to The Impetus. Just as many creatures within Ob-2 are altered by the magical fallout, current theories suggest Mirinium is a similarly magically altered material.
