Cardinian

Cardinian's hail from the east of Terisirae, though most of them specifically come from the areas bordering the Rune River and identify instead as Runic.
Cardinian's do not belong strictly to any one race, instead finding solidarity in their darker skin tones and the familial ties of their region. Cardinians are fierce warriors, the first to brandish their weapons against the hordes of creatures leftover after The Impetus, quickly rising to high and respected positions as a result. Given their history, many Cardinians are expected to join the Terisian military or become freelance adventurers, and they can be identified within the ranks of any major guild. This creates friction with modern Cardinians who seek to take advantage of recent advances in magic and magical devices, especially given the publication of Brayden Bradley's Terisirae Compendium.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Black is beauty in Cardinian communities, dark skin is often seen as a highly coveted characteristic. Other highly sought after physical characteristics include a powerful muscular build, long luxurious hair, and a healthy amount of stamina. These standards exist in some capacity for both Cardinian men and women.
Another aspect of romance is the idea of one's "Cardinae". Cardinae as a word refers to the eastern region this community originates from, but in common parlance refers to a Cardinian's aura--how they carry themselves and approach others. It refers to an intensity of personality and presence that is highly regarded.

Gender Ideals

Gender roles are varied between the races that contribute to the community of Cardinians, but in general men are expected to be wise, strong, compassionate, and leaders of their families and communities while women are expected to be primary caregivers and supportive of the men in their proximity.
