Agroven kingdom

Originally named Fenvale, this large human kingdom has politically and economically dominated the south half of Ylirn for the last century and a half.

History

Rouland Agroven

A nobleman from Feorfenn, Rouland was a cunning politician and tactician who became the first king of the five cities. Already at a young age he managed to take over control from the Council of Elders which had been ruling the city in the Takeover of Feorfenn. Ten years later, he set out on the Vanquishment of the Vale. The ciminal rule of the second Guildmaster in Odiso had ended only two years before, and both Odiso and Torindach were still recovering from the losses they had suffered in that conflict. The vanquishment was not so much a large-scale war as a series of economical and political pressuring, prolonged sieges and several small battles. Through tactical insight and acumen Agroven managed to disrupt the formation of a united front against him and thus avoided large scale armed confrontations. After four years all cities had been persuaded one way or another to join in the creation of a new kingdom under the rule of Rouland Agroven.   Giant War This war raged from 7 to 10 A.F. and was arguably the most important moment in certainly the early history of the kingdom. Only freshly forged, it faced annihilation in the form of the giant clans of the Daudrvell, united under the cloud giant king Syrtaeus Tagesen. It ended in victory for the kingdom and the annexation of new territory.

Territories

The Agroven kingdom consists of multiple counties, each ruled over by a noble family under the authority of the king. Humans often refer to the old counties by common names which are not official but are widespread.   Meadow Vale:
  • Thiosma - Northvale
  • Frearach - Hillsteads
  • Linntire - Merelands
Southern Ranges:
  • Riasceg - The Fens
  • Arforheär - Rivershores
West: These counties have no other names
  • Pendaire
  • Birmingver

Religion

Chauntea, Pelor and Erathis are the most important gods in this kingdom. Bahamut and Moradin are also revered, and the Raven Queen is feared and honored with a shrine at most graveyards. Open worship of other gods is forbidden, but this law is not enforced in equal measure everywhere. Generally, the farther from Torindach you get the more lax local authorities will be about persecuting other faiths.
