Humans arrive on Emeriss, setting the stage for an epoch of war.

Native to some long forgotten world, the gods brought the last vestiges of humanity to Emeriss after Ares sundered their home - leaving it a shattered, lifeless rock adrift in the uncaring void of space.   Having escaped oblivion by only the barest of margins, the first humans were careful to preserve the peace with Emeriss' native elves but within a few generations humanity had begun to unravel the secrets of their new homes most powerful resource - magic.   Armed with spears and spells, they began to prey upon outlying elven settlements. The elves were quick and strong, more than a match for a human in single combat but they had never known war as humanity brought it to their door. Human armies marched onto the field of battle in phalanxes and cavalry, organized, methodical, and deadly disciplined with powerful casters hidden well out of reach to lob great balls of fire and conjure the lightning out of the sky.   The elves attempted to rally, to adapt to this terrifying new efficiency of killing but too late.   As the armies of man began to close in on the Leawood - the last stronghold of the elves - the gods watched on in horror at what they had brought to these shores.   In desperation to redeem himself from the sins which had shattered humanity's original home, Ares turned to Plutus and Demeter for aid. As the god of wealth shone his light upon some human cities, the goddess of grain turned her face away from others and Ares stoked the flames of war in the hearts of both.   Humanity's united front began to crack away almost as soon as the plan began and the armies of man turned upon one another until, battered and broken upon each other's wrath, they were forced to return home to their city-states and lick their wounds.
