Stoneholme

Homeworld of the Dwarves, Halflings, and Gnomes, Stoneholme is a rocky planet with few natural resources outside the carefully cultivated Halfling shires that dot its surface. Below ground, however, Stoneholme is rich in gold and gems and forbidden magics hidden away by the gods themselves.   For millennia, while the Halflings busied themselves with small farms and simple living and the Gnomes tinkered away in their subterranean homes, the Dwarves did what Dwarves do best - they dug. Carving great cities out of the stone, the mines of the Dwarves crept deeper and deeper, ever careful not to disrupt the arcane secrets which the gods had placed them upon Stoneholme to protect.   When the Quinn arrived, it was these deep passages that proved to be the only salvation and both the Halflings and the Gnomes fled into the tunnels, joining Dwarven sentries in the defense of the mines but the digging never ceased.   Desperate for some way, any way, to hold the Quinn back, the Dwarven council elected that, for the first time in their history, they would seek out the divine magics beneath their feet. They dug and dug, for the better part of a century, with the armies of the Quinn hammering at their door all the while.   What they found, buried there at the heart of the world, is lost to time but its unearthing brought with it the attention of the gods and Hephaestus ventured to Stoneholme.   What he found was a civilization on the cusp of collapse and so the god of the forge created for his favored people a gateway that would take them to safety on Emeriss. The Dwarves, Gnomes, and Halflings still poured through the gate as the last lines of defense fell and the Quinn surged into the deep tunnels.   Refusing to let their adversaries follow his people to their new home, Haphaestus himself stood against the Quinn as the refugees fled and only once the enemy threatened to overwhelm him did he shatter the gate and return to Elysium.
