History
Isgud, the god of Tundrane, found that his humans did not possess the inclination to seek out where he had placed the most valuable resources in his realm: underground. Thus, the Dwarves were born.
Dwarves were given the natural instinct to craft, forge, burrow, and solve situations from a hands-on perspective.
They are insightful creatures, and they know how to take a punch. However, they're anything but quiet, and stealth is not their ally.
Variations
Mountain Dwarves: Mountain Dwarves are the strongest of the three Dwarf subraces, and also the original, traditional strand. They're known to be the greatest miners of the three groups, and the best suited to cold environments. Their identifying characteristic is their darker hair and eye colors, as they typically sport black hair and brown eyes.
Hill Dwarves: Hill Dwarves were a result of dwarves that migrated to more flatland and rolling hill regions, as they found they would need to adapt to a different style of living. They live in more complex villages, with houses either built into hillsides or wood and stone. They are typically of most ease to integrate into other societies. They're best known for their skills in smithing. Their identifying characteristic is their reddish or orange hair with either blue or green eyes.
Forest Dwarves: Forest Dwarves are an oddity among the Dwarf subraces. Rather than live in burrows and mountain holds, they prefer to live in the trees, often making homes either in complex networks of tree houses, or huts within trees with larger, wider trunks. They're best known for skill in woodwork and craftsmanship outside of metalwork. Their identifying characteristic is their lighter or blonde hair colors and brighter eye colors.
