World Jungle
The broad, lush tropical rainforest which encompasses both sides of the World River in the tropical zone of the Material Plane. The World Jungle contains a large amount of minor civilizations, but most of it remains unmapped. A healthy trade network exists across the World River, with its tendrils reaching all the way to Lake Nequetal in Elion. Despite its density and difficulty of travel, the World Jungle contains sporadic ruins of older civilizations and extraplanar strongholds, many of which are in disrepair. The origin of these ruins is largely unknown, but their advancement indicates that there may once have been an advanced society in the basin of the World River before some great calamity allowed the wilds to retake it.
Geography
The World Jungle exists entirely in a wide band surrounding the World River, the Material Plane's widest and longest river. The World Jungle becomes a narrow strip and disappears where the World River meets the ocean, allowing for a small unforested strip of coastal land which serves as a part of the main trade thoroughfare between Elion and Draconia.
Fauna & Flora
The World Jungle is the most biodiverse location in the entire Material Plane, and is inhabited by tens of thousands of different species. In addition to beasts, plants, and other non-thinking life, the World Jungle contains a plethora of minor humanoid races of all different shapes and sizes, some of whom travel as far as the Nequarine Basin of Iuzon.
Natural Resources
The World Jungle supplies Elion and other connected regions with dark, rich woods used for a variety of purposes, including furniture and carved objects for the rich, and magic wands.
