Granell

Granell (Grey valley) is a large area of tundra north of the Prothaein Mountains. Contrary to its name, it is not a valley and is actually very flat. The name was given by the inhabitants of southern Breklend, who only observe it from the mountains, rarely traveling further north. It is home to several nomadic groups, who sustain themselves from hunting.

Geography

Temperatures in Granell drop far below that of its southern counterpart, remaining below freezing for much of the year. There are some rivers, flowing down from the Prothaein Mountains. The water in these rivers is relatively pure and free of sediment, and can be safely ingested without need for purification. The area borders the Northern Ocean, which is also bordered by Shadra and Syndal.

Fauna & Flora

The ecosystem of Granell depends almost exclusively on sea life, as the land is too cold to sustain most plant life. Almost all food chains eventually lead back to the sea. Animals in Granell are generally quite small, although there are exceptions.

Snow Jackal

It is slightly smaller than jackals of other parts of the world, allowing it to survive on smaller portions of food. It tends to feed on small rodents, but can also act as a scavenger, feeding off of anything that it finds injured or dead. Its white fur allows it to remain camouflaged in the snow.

Hyre

A respected and feared creature in the area, the Hyre is a large creature of about four metres long and stands just under two metres tall. It has no predators, although the nomads in the area sometimes attempt to tackle it. It fights with swift swipes from its front legs, which have sharp claws on the end, but could easily cause concussion and broken bones without them.

Sne Kæmp
