Zariel

the Redeemed (a.k.a. Archduke of Avernus)

Once known as Archduke Zariel of Avernus, Zariel was once a beautiful angel from Mount Celestia tasked with watching over the Blood War on Avernus. The angels disregard for the war and mortal lives lost pushed Zariel to join the fray and defend the realms of man in the midst of battle herself. Asmodeus took advantage of this fact and offered her rule over Avernus and the forces to combat the Abyssal Demons, which she accepted, turning her into a malformed Archdevil. Through the efforts of the Vanguard and Yael, a ghost from Zariel's past, her angelic sword was returned to her and she realized the corruption that had taken hold of her as she vowed to become an angel again and hold up to the celestial decree.
