Kasa Caelora

The settlement of Kasa Caelora is an Elven industrial logging town mainly populated by druids and lumberjacks. Kasa Caelora is located within the Vela'Nar woods, an expansive and lush forest filled with Wood Elves, a subspecies of Elf that lives amongst the forests and are in touch with nature. The people of the Vela'Nar woods cherish all things natural, and would never dream of cutting down a tree, but the entirety of this settlement is dedicated to just that. Once, the Vela'Nar woods was more primal, and the druidic Wood Elves would go wild with magical growth, expanding the forest as much as possible. The Vela'Nar grew very large, very quickly, but the Wood Elves found themselves unable to defend the much larger woods now from threat, which came apparent when they encountered Goblinoid raiders rioting through the expanding forests gleefully burning trees and slaughtering animals. The Wood Elves were not fighters, and did not have access to metals, finding their wooden tools ineffective against the Goblinoids. So the druids worked on a ritualistic technique to try and use nature to their advantage. They, sadly, harvested a tree and infused it with druidic magic with a lengthy ritual. This created Ironwood, a hefty natural wood that is as strong, heavy, and resistant to fire as steel. Using weapons made out of the new material, the Wood Elves fought off the raiders and saved Vela'Nar, but were now worried about extending it too far too quickly. That is how the system that Kasa Caelora works on was created. The druids hated cutting down trees, but found it was a necessary evil. To counteract the negative effect on nature, whenever a tree is cut down for druids to turn into Ironwood, two more trees are planted in its place, creating a slowly yet steadily expanse of the forests, with good protection.   Before the Great Unite, the Wood Elves secreted this technology and the Ironwood substance, using it as a surprise technique against metal-wielders such as Humans. They would attack a mage who would try to burn their wooden weapons but find them immune, and suffer a fatal consequence from it. When the Great Unite happened and relative peace fell over Velaria, the Wood Elves found an increased demand for Ironwood from the other cultures. Such a material was extremely useful to a variety of cultures for various reasons, but wood that had the properties of steel was very sought after. The Wood Elves established Kasa Caelora then, dedicating the entire settlement to the creation and distribution of the unique material of Ironwood.   Now, the Kasa is a bustling industrial town filled with merchants and traders wanting to purchase the expensive and powerful Ironwood. The lumberjacks and druids can live in Kasa Caelora with food, coin and everything else imported to the town in exchange for the Ironwood exports. Kasa Caelora is also used as a training ground for some druids, wanting to practice their nature magic on trees that are about to be cut down and turned into Ironwood in case of a mishap, and then also their ritual magic when they are more advanced, to be able to actually create Ironwood. There are always druids bustling around the town because of it.

Demographics

The population of Kasa Caelora is almost entirely made up of Wood Elves native to Vela'Nar. That is because the process of creating Ironwood is sacred to the Wood Elves and they also want to make sure they are not harming nature in any way. The only other species that live in Kasa Caelora are the traders and merchants that specialise in purchasing and distributing Ironwood to their individual peoples.

Government

The settlement is overseen by the Archdruid, the leader of the Druidic Grove. The Archdruid is not the only Archdruid in the world of Elderforge, but is chosen by the Grove to oversee the Ironwood production, to spread the true power of nature. The Archdruid runs everything, and only reports to the leaders of the Bluefox Clan, the clan that the Wood Elves of Vela'Nar belong to. The Archdruid has priority over the lumberjacks as well to ensure that nature is always the priority. If a big purchase comes in for a massive buyer, for example the Vampire Counts of Xeador want to equip their thrall armies with Ironwood weapons to use against the powerful Werewolf Firemage, the Archdruid will make sure that the workers do not push the trees too far. The druids will always make the buyer's wait if they have to, they will not rush the process both for nature and because the effectiveness of creating Ironwood depends on a successful ritual.

Defences

Some of the largest and most muscular Wood Elves come from Kasa Caelora, with a background in being a lumberjack. Spending their entire day chopping creates massive, trunk-like arms and a proficiency with axes. The Kasa relies on their assortment of strong lumberjacks and powerful druids to defend the town, not wanting to disturb the forest in any way with defences constructed.
May Mother Nature forgive us for this atrocity. May she also bless this tree with iron strength so we can protect her with all our might. Now I will begin the growth ritual for new trees, I will love these trees like they are my children, of which I have 22.
