The Village of Fovoumai's demise
Summer
The Gods blessed us today for the earth shook but we were fine. The earthquake was relatively minor, worse damage is a partially collapsed roof of one of the houses. Others have cracks in the walls but look stable. We heard some noise from the mountain for several hours afterwards, no one wanted to go look until it settled. Beside some settling dust and some loose rocks at the base, it seemed like the crisis is averted.
Autumn
Winter
The cold has set in harshly, the ice has expanded cracks in some of the houses leaking out their fires warm. They will have to share house with a good neighbor. Wolves broken into the livestock pens 2 days ago, surviving animals rounded up have left us with a quarter of what we had. The snow is too thick to attempt hunting. We will have to ration our supplies but we will come out of this hungry but humbled. The Gods message is clearer now, we are supposed to expand our horizons come spring and travel to the city, to spread our message of triumph over hardship.
Spring
Weakened with hunger and cold several people succumbed to sickness. As soon as the ground looked melted enough I had several men prepare to travel. We needed food and medicine. Through the mountain pass it would only be a weeks walk. As night fell a torrential rain dropped down upon us, it rained heavy into the next day. Once it halted into a sprinkle I sent the men on their way.One came back a day later, looking defeated, he had been sent back to report that the pass had been washed out with boulders and mud, knowing that we did not have enough people with strength to clear it, the other were going to attempt going around.
They never returned.
What little food anyone was strong enough to find was not enough to keep the sickness from spreading. As I lay in bed, quill shaking to write this I think back on what we did a year ago.
Celyus had been discovered with those abominations. He wouldn't explain how the were made, I had no choice. I think about what he screamed before the end.
This is the end for me but not my creation, without which you shall all perish.
