Demographics

Ethnically, the population is made up mostly of old Unyctan tribal peoples--Sarashia and Iasec are the two largest groups, however many view the old tribes as political organizations instead of cultural homes. There is very much a tone of "Let the past be the past," within this city especially. People don't see a need to hold on to their roots anymore, now that they are all parts of the great and growing Unyct.

Unyct is a country devoted to the religion of Uno'oc, worshipping the sun god Joku, the moon gods Ald and Uroc, and, in some places, the god of death, Katestaf. Since the emperor's family is devoted to Uno'oc, it's considered hedonistic to worship any others in the country, especially the city of Jokuatan, whose name roughly translates to "Where Joku stood."

This city is for the wealthier class. At the center lies the royal temple, and just outside of that is a whole circlet of a palace built to host the royal family, including all 237 members eligible for a royal title. The amount of citizen wealth grows smaller and smaller as one moves away from the temple, until they leave the city all together to find farmlands and marshes.

Due to the heavy royal presence, there's demand for almost every profession one can name. The city is mostly made up of merchants, fabric makers, soldiers, priests, and servants.

Government

The city of Jokuatan is home to the emperor of Unyct, which is currently Kanetas Serr. The emperor's castle guard enforces laws in this city, as a sort of militarized policing force. The emperor, of course, has the power to change and create laws, and is seen as the ultimate judge if a person breaks the law.
