Slepheim
Slepheim is Eisholle's southernmost continent. It contains the geographic South Pole and is situated in the Antarctic region of the Southern Hemisphere, almost entirely south of the Antarctic Circle, and is surrounded by the Southern Eisic Ocean. At 5,500,000 square miles, it is the second-largest continent. About 79% of Slepheim is covered by ice that averages 1.2 miles in thickness.
Geography
Positioned asymmetrically around the South Pole and largely south of the Antarctic Circle, Slepheim is the southernmost continent and is surrounded by the Southern Ocean; alternatively, it may be considered to be surrounded by the Southern Eisic Ocean Oceans, or by the southern waters of the World Ocean. There are a number of rivers and lakes in Antarctica, the longest river being the Blod. The largest lake, Holstein, is one of the largest sub-glacial lakes in the world. Slepheim covers more than 5,400,000 sq miles. The coastline measures 11,165 mi and is mostly characterized by ice formations.
Slepheim is divided in two by the Transantarctic Mountains, The Hellgash Range that runs close to the neck between Dunkan Shire and travels south to Aisling Bay, and the Darkreek Mountain Range that runs from Kukka running south to Lumihofn. The portion west of the Hellgash Range is the country of Speunhiem. The portion east Darkreek Mountain Range is called Slepland, and the remainder is conflicted territory called the Frozen Shelf.
About 79% of Antarctica is covered by the Frozen ice sheet, a sheet of ice averaging at least 1.2 miles thick. The continent has about 90% of the world's ice and thus about 70% of the Eisholle's freshwater. If all of this ice were melted, sea levels would rise about 200 ft. In most of the interior of the continent, precipitation is very low, down to 0.8 inches per year; in a few "blue ice" areas precipitation is lower than mass loss by sublimation, and so the local mass balance is negative. In the dry valleys, the same effect occurs over a rock base, leading to a barren and desiccated landscape.
