Magic

Magic is a mysterious force gifted by supernatural powers, such as deities or demons. It is capable of altering reality in miraculous ways. People often go to extreme measures just to have a little bit of magic; dedicated seekers of magic are referred to as Pilgrims.
Magic-users are changed physically, so they are often recognizable on sight by their elongated ears and unusual features. This condition of being changed by magic is variously referred to as beatification or apotheosis, depending on the degree of magic and change.

Access & Availability

Magic must be gifted from an already existing magic-user or supernatural being. Because supernatural beings are particularly elusive and rare, most sources of magic come from incumbent Cult Gods. The Cult Gods themselves have a vested interest in remaining the main gatekeeper of magic, and thus work to exterminate or otherwise erasure all knowledge of supernatural beings.

Complexity

Magic is as complex as the laws of physics. Minor magic-users are able to manipulate natural laws in certain ways, such as shape matter to their will or accelerate natural processes, but cannot break natural law. Powerful magic-users can alter physics to their liking with far more control, and supernatural creatures and deities can control reality itself.

Discovery

There are old, prehistoric myths detailing the discovery of magic. These myths change among cultures and civilizations, but prove that the discovery of magic is a very, very ancient one, and generally correlates with the creation of religion.
