Hymmatrix Code

Hymmatrix Code is the official magic language of the Eidolons. However, it also served as a cypher to obscure Eidolon plans from potential onlookers from Celea.

Function

Aside from basic communicative functions, Hymmatrix Code serves as the activating code for magic in the Eidolon Space. When the Scope Definer phrase is uttered aloud, the area around the caster seems to charge with energy, as though preparing for the encoding of the spell about to be spoken.

Structure

Hymmatrix Code has different grammatical modes for when it is being used to communicate and when it is being used to "encode" or cast. The different modes of the code are referred to as Expression Mode and Scripting Mode, respectively.
In Expression Mode, there are no special characters or structures. The language simply flows like regular speech. Scripting Mode has special characters that correspond to special syllables when spoken. Both modes work with Verb-Object-Subject grammar. Adjectives come before nouns.
Let's say an Eidolon wants to create a room. This sentence can be posed one of two ways.

In Expression Mode, the sentence would look something like this: kere-il rua iru. "I will create a room." Kere is the verb for creating, the -il suffix indicates future tense, rua is room, and iru is a reflexive pronoun indicating the self (basically, English "I").

In Scripting Mode, the sentence is presented like this: kArLEWA >> rua. The execution character >> is pronounced as "zek" and is what triggers a scope Scope Definer to be encoded as magic. In a Scope Definer, the vowels of a verb are removed and replaced with emotion slots. The capitalized letters are the emotion slots in action, and each verb has three (if there are less than three syllables in a word, the final emotion slot is appended after the second slot).   Emotion slots correspond to three contexts surrounding an action: personal feelings (the mood of the caster and the emotion that provides the base energy of the magic), targeted feelings (feelings about an object being targeted by the magic/action), and general feelings (feelings about the general situation of the caster).

As a Cypher

Early in the Eidolon Space's development, Sigma-Nu and the other Eidolons feared discovery and recapture, even if the organization responsible for their initial containment had been dismantled. The Hymmatrix Code was originally devised as a language just for Eidolons to know so that they could communicate without fear of what would happen if their communications were intercepted. As the space developed and expanded, the tension around the code relaxed, and Outworlders and specific people in Celea have slowly picked up bits and pieces of the code.
