Naming Traditions

Feminine names

Operathian female names are often softsounding and taken from the old Operathian songs of the first dwarves, such as Bela the Berserker or Hela Hellcaller. In more recent times, a lot of foreign names and liqour based names have become common, such as Brandy and Merlot.   Merlot, Annabel, Bela, Brunja.

Masculine names

Operathians are very proud of their many breweries and worldfamous brandy and ale. Thus, its not uncommon to find men and dwarves named things like Stout or Whiskey     Common names:   Whiskey, Bran, Belor, Parn, Brisk,

Family names

Most Operathian names are Dwarven or Ur in origin and tend to be composite names, combining one of the two thing Operath is famous for: Things you make booze out of, or minerals and metals. Further more, Operathians are all about family and family names are often very old and run back a long time.   Examples of family names.   Dandelion, Ryebeard, Wheatwhiskers, Stonebrow, Copperbeard

Operathians most commonly look for someone who looks like they can either work hard in the forges our out in the fields. Strength and muscle is a common attraction for both genders. Scars and tattoos tend to be common, especially among the more brawly types who gravitate towards the military. Operathians dont wear a lot gold, despite the nation being one of the largest mining nations on Efetra. Instead they were cold iron ringlets in their beard and hair and matted copper in bracers and earings, along with some small, cut jewels to indicate how well of they actually are.

Courtship Ideals

Operathian Courtship is a turbulent process. As family is everything in operath, a vow is not taken lightly and letting your son or daughter go with someone unfit could have dire ramifications, especially among the big, ruling families.
