Dredger

Dredgers

A profession of divers who pull up resources from the bottom of water sources. This profession is often disregarded as dangerous, dirty, and hard, many not realizing the resources that dredgers bring into the markets.

Talent

While dredging takes place throughout the rivers, lakes, and coasts throughout the continent, the job requires consistent skills and talents to pull off.
  1. The main skill required for dredging is one has to be a strong swimmer. The most valuable minerals are located in the deepest parts of the coast and the fastest parts of the rivers. One has to be confident in their ability to swim through treacherous waters, comfortable with the limits of their air capacity, and sure of how to work their tools even in freezing, harsh waters.
  2. A second skill is sharp eyes. While some operations are easy, like the mining of clay from river beds, the most valuable dredging is precise. A dredger has to be able to read the underwater landscape for the exact pieces they need, hidden in coral, in unassuming rock formations, etc. They also need to be able to read the pattern of the current in the rivers, the waves in the ocean, and the sky for storms. Storms are one of the worst obstacles for dredgers, and the reason many keep Beilees as companions.
