Brew Fest in Caywold
General Summary
On the 3rd of Amiel, four adventurers found themselves in the small town of Caywold to celebrate the holiday of Brew Fest, a day of drinking and praise for the blessing of fermentation and alcohol. While the morning of the event was enjoyable, during the evening goblins raided the city, coming up from the sewers, and knocked out the four adventurers, tying the four men to chairs and putting them above a fire pit to burn in. Before the goblins could finish rummaging through their gear however, the group woke up, broke out of their bind, and managed to slaughter the goblins.
After taking care of the goblins who attempted to burn them, the four teamed up and headed into the streets. Quickly noticing that the entire town was being burned down, however the stone keep seemed to be the only building untouched by the flames. Avoiding the roaming goblins in the streets they made their way to the front gate of the keep, taking care of another small group of goblins before Therakir picked the lock to the gates door. While the guards inside were quick to pick up arms as the door creaked open, assuming the goblins had broken in, the lowered their spears and shuffled the group inside upon realizing they were not apart of the raiding party. The group made their way to the lord of the town, only to find a sobbing man being comforted by his men. After rudely telling him to get back into shape, and promptly being removed from his chambers, they are informed that his depressed mood is due to his daughter being missing, and assumed to have been captured by the goblins. Under the sole determination to receive a reward from the lord, the group makes their way back into the streets of Caywold, looking around for an entrance down into the sewers. Once they find the entrance, Manitour, being the strongest and largest member of the group removes the manhole cover with ease, and oddly decides to keep the cover with him.
Now in the sewers, they notice the goblin tracks in the muddy walkways coming from the west, which they promptly follow. After a short walk the come to a dug out hole in the wall, where they see a single goblin, armed more then the ones they had previously fought, along with several kidnapped townsfolk, including the lords daughter. Despite this goblins stronger gear, Manitour quickly took care of him, ramming the small goblin into the wall before mercilessly executing him. Jedediah, Therakir, and Kaliam took this time to untie some of the townsfolk and helping to get them back to safety. Manitour grabbed the lords daughter and brought her back to the keep. Before leaving the sewer, Therakir found a small map of the city with what seemed to be the goblins plan of attack, unfortunately however, the odd drawings and unreadable goblin writing left very little to be interpreted by the rouge.
Making their way back into the keep and making sure the townsfolk are met with priests and medics, the head back to the lord to bring his daughter back to him. Assuring the party that in the morning they will be well rewarded for the help to the town, they are given a room to rest in, and by Manitour request, lots of booze to drink. Therakir also gives the guards the map that he had found which the guards attempt to decipher. After only a short time to rest, a guard rushes into the room waking the group, informing them that after deciphering the map, they have discovered that a second wave is incoming. According to the map, this second wave was broken into two attacks. The first was an orc party from the south, and the second, a hill giant from the north.
Jedediah, takes charge of the situation, informing the guards that they will handle the giant, but would require a few of the towns elite guardsmen to assist them while the rest take on the orcs. Heading outside the walls the group and their four guard allies waited for the giant to approach. A short while later the giant appeared, atop its head was a small goblin guiding the giant towards the town. However, Manitour immediately picked up one of the guards javelins, and through it the 100 feet of distance between them and took out the goblin rider. Upon loosing its guide the giant ran directly towards the group, with Kaliam running towards it as well. Jedediah ran closer in order to cast his spells at the giant, while Manitour, Therakir, and the guards attacked it from afar. After a short encounter, with only one member, Jedediah, being severely harmed.
Upon returning to the keep, lord Walda assures them that they will be rewarded handsomely in the morning, with gold, horses, and equipement for their travels. The four then headed back to the tavern where they were originally to be burned by the goblins, where the tavern owner, who had managed to survive in the keep, revealed that the goblins didnt manage to find the key to his underground cellar. With this the tavern owner brings up more drinks and the town finishes their celebration of both Brew Fest and that they were not all killed by the goblin raid.
