Lazurn

Schecter20
The once prospering, now ruined city of Lazurn is barely recognisable today. Sand fills its' walls and streets, its' homes and buildings are submerged. The only thing to mark its' location is the golden statue of Icspa, which once stood upon the top of the palace of Pinn and his dynasty, before it was reclaimed by the Icspan Desert.

History

Lazurn was given to the tribe leader Pinn when he signed The Treaty of Forgiveness. Back then The Icspan Desert had not formed. Lazurn was a city based on a great plain that was rivalled in size only by The Western Ecurian Plains. It had a similar infrastructure and layout to Xanu and even outgrew it in size and population. Pinn prioritised agriculture and that is how the settlement made its' income, by exporting goods and organic products all throughout Ecura. The city had many guilds and factions, however the most important one in the short history of the settlement was the Devotees of Icspa. This faction were worshippers of the Goddess Icspa, and the faction was set up shortly after the death of Pinn. The society then became a ruling guild with a member of Pinn's family line always as the High Priest to the goddess.       There are two versions of how it became a ruin, The mythilogical way and the scientific way. For the myth, please see the catagory "Myths and Legends" and see the article 'The Ruination of Lazurn'. The scientific account of what occured in order to ruin the city is as follows. In 364 A.Z. there was a massive drought recorded. The land had become dry and baron right as the harvest looked to be the most bountiful yet. The High priest, a decendant of Pinn, went in to beg his deity, Icspa, to grant them rain to reap the harvest. The next day, it began to rain, however it did not stop. Lazurn was flooded in a matter of hours from the downpour. Weak and starving, the flood washed many citizens away. It destroyed homes and buildings. The High Priest managed to escape but his citizens did not, nor did his city. When the rain settled nothing ever grew here again. Baron and bare, the city was destroyed and never inhabited again. Today the location is marked by the golden statue of Icspa, the only part of the city never to be touched by sand. This is how the Icspan Desert got its' name, and Lazurn was destroyed for good.
