Yunhai

Yunhai is thought by some as a mystical place. Over the clouds, the mountain tops of Yunhai protect the defenseless.

Geography

Sticking out in between Templer and Selvada, are the mountains of Yunhai. As tall as to reach the clouds, the tops of the high mountains can rarely be seen.

The humidity of the clouds condensate when they hit the land and keep the environment very humid. At the side of the mountains, many streams flow down into the land to form rivers that end in lakes or the Zoris ocean.

At a certain altitude, the clouds cover the mountains. This section of the mountain are very hard to cross since the clouds are so dense they only allow to see at short distances.

At a higher altitude, the clouds become less dense and disperse more. The peaks become more steep and the sunlight hits the mountains more directly. Low trees grow through the mountains in a environment that is not found anywhere else in Mesos.

This said, some areas of Yunhai between the mountains make small valleys which are filled with the majority of the bigger animals of the territory. This small valleys also create the perfect place for some cities to rise and towns to proliferate. One particular place, the Arashoi Valley, lies a big lake which covers a big portion of the western side of Yunhai. In this valley, storms are always present, and its hard for many animals to live in such a place.

However, the most distinguishing sight of Yunhai is the "Sea Of Clouds". Up in this top of the mountains, the dense clouds can be seeing blowing with the wind to the West covering the view into the subcontinents. This makes Yunhai one of the most unique places in Mesos.

Fauna & Flora

Various factors like the winds from the east, the high humidity and the lack of loose ground define the flora of Yunhai. Because of this factors, the plant life of Yunhai is made up of small trees, some low grasses and bushes and many types of mosses. Some of this plants present some of the most unique characteristics in all Mesos, like the Taifen Tree, which has seeds that take advantage of the wind to "fly" over the mountains and disperse.

As of the fauna, many unique species of lizards and insects live on the mountains, which have adapted to use the wind and to climb the steep cliffs of Yunhai. However, as in the rest of Mesos, the predominant wildlife are dinosaurs. Many dinosaurs of different kinds inhabit Yunhai. It can be noted that many of the animals that live in Yunhai don't live anywhere else on the continent. It is theorized this might be due to them being species vulnerable to larger predators like Tyrannosaurus rex which is too big to live in the mountains.

Natural Resources

There are decent deposits of iron and copper in the mountains of Yunhai. The stone found at Yunhai is not the best there is, but it is still used in the buildings and castles of the cities that lie there.

Although the trees of Yunhai are smaller than those in the rest of the continent, they server well for construction.

Lakes and streams form around Yunhai, providing it with lots of water all year. The people of Yunhai even take advantage of the clouds to take water directly from them.
