Session XI: Homebound
When the dust settles...
General Summary
Chasing Lilith Ilfictus through the woods, the party finally got their hands on the saboteur they had been chasing since their run in at Valhelm. After failed assassinations, malignant dreams, and foul visions, the slippery illusionist found herself in a situation she couldn't slip from. However, at the grace of her captors, Alexis Ryker provided her with an ultimateum, die forever, or die in the eyes of the Empire. With convincing logic and an offer of redemption, Ryker posed the possibility that Lilith work for him and his spy network and feign her death in the eyes of the Empire. Donning her necklace, which prevents her from being revealed from divination based magics, she became the first individual to join Echo Fall's emerging spy network Wolfpack.
As the Displacers finish their initial objectives: repairing the artifact, tracking down the saboteur, and finding allies amidst external threats, they find themselves with time on their hands to rebuild what had been lost during the Green Flames Festival. As their community builds back, our heroes take on some more personal objectives.
Garyn Puddlecheek spent much of his time designing public works projects like the new armory, which harnesses the waterfall's natural power to heat the forge. This worked in tandem with their new Gearhead Foundry, which was built on the work of Pamela Pottlepen, breathing life back into her life. He also helped design and execute the widening of the river, allowing for the Kraken Rock Pirates to ship Valnorian Power Gems to their newly built foundry. Garyn's efforts as Echo Fall's premier inventor would solidify him no longer as an apprentice, but now as an innovator.
Amon found himself at a crossroads between preserving his humanity or sacrificing it for the sake of freeing his people. Tieflings, who he had learned were being siphoned of their body heat from some object known as the Obsidian Crown, had started to congregate in the outskirts of Echo Falls. After he built them a community center, they devoted their lives not only to helping Echo Falls, a place they could now call home, prosper, but also to help Amon succeed in his endeavor of freeing the infernal folk from their plight. The first step: a ritual which inagurated him as the founder and leader of the Snowshadow Coven.
Dixie Emmendorpher returned to her life as a PTA mother, director of the schoolhouse and presider over the school board. She returned to her life with Walter and Wheaton, but started to rekindle her relationship with her former rival Lilith.
Apollyon set out to make Echo Falls a formidible military threat against his enemies in the west. He formally dubbed the military of Echo Falls, Ordo Tenebris, an homage to his former brothers who fought the scourge which lurked beneath the surface and met their ends at the hands of the Bulwark. He also set out to recruit some of the Scarred Wasteland tribes to join the Black Winter Alliance, which would aim to be the front line of defense against any military action taken by the Bulwark.
Lucas Frazer went into isolation to train his mind and body as he realized that the world around him was far stronger than what he had envisioned. Training hours upon hours a day and meditating at any silent moment, he prepared himself for what was to come next.
Lyariel Brighleith spent much of her time with Ysara Brighleith building the temple to Shadrael. Dextyrs Brighleith would spend much time in Echo Falls coordinating foreign policy with Lyariel, and also to spend time, reunited, with his wife Ysara. Lyariel—during this time—spent great effort reaching out to the seers for guidance, asking for their wisdom.
